The Farmer's Community

Agriculture is one of the most important area of human activity worldwide. As the population rises, there is need to increase the agricultural production. In this age of globalisation, Web based systems and mobile applications could prove beneficial in the farming sector of developing countries as the cost of computer is decreasing and the use of networked computers, the Internet and telecommunication technologies are increasing.

Though this System can be used for large scale farmers, the purpose of this project is to design a Farm Management Decision Support System for Small Scale Farmers who seem to be in the majority in Zambia and possibly other developing countries. The many small scale farmers are individuals who picked up farming but may have no formal education on how to manage their farm and increase production. This system will be used to monitor farm activities, give the farmers notifications and link the farmer to a vast pool of information concerning their farming activities as well as linking them to clients and other merchants.
